Chicago lists six players on their injury report. Garrett Temple (ankle) and Otto Porter Jr. (back) are probable, Chandler Hutchison (COVID-19 protocols) and Tomas Satoransky (COVID-19 protocols) are both out, Luke Kornet (personal) and Devon Dotson (personal) are not expected to return to the team until the following week.
Dallas lists seven players on their injury report: Kristaps Porzingis (ankle) is probable, Tim Hardaway Jr. (groin) will be a game-time decision, Jalen Brunson is questionable (COVID-19 protocols), Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber, Dwight Powell, and Josh Richardson are all out on Sunday due to COVID-19 protocols.

Chicago Bulls vs. Dallas Mavericks Predictions and Picks
The first place to begin this handicap is the injury report. Dallas looks to be the team that will be impacted the most, giving that the players already ruled out combine to average 35.5 points per game. If Hardaway Jr. and Brunson also don’t play, then that number is up to 65 points. I do think they’ll at least have Hardaway Jr. available, and Porzingis being probable should be a boost for the Mavericks. On the Bulls bench, their inactive players only account for 15.6 points per game.
Dallas covered the spread their last time out in a three-point loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, and they did it without many of the players on today’s injury report. The Mavericks are actually 7-4 against the spread and have covered their last five games. They’ve been able to get some results by digging in on the defensive end. Per TeamRankings, Dallas is ranked second behind the Lakers in defensive efficiency (1.026), which helps explain why they’re 8-3 to the under on the season.
The Mavericks are also playing at a slower tempo (24th in the league), which could prove vital given the number of injured players they have at the moment.
Some things to keep in mind for this game: Chicago defeated Dallas 118-108 earlier this year as Luka Doncic was sidelined with a quad injury. Now the Mavericks will have Doncic available for today’s game and likely Porzingis. This sets up as a spot where Dallas can avenge their earlier loss and get back in the win column after a decent showing against the Bucks in their last game.
Chicago does have a history of struggling against slower-paced defensive teams. When facing teams with a defensive efficiency between 1.0 and 1.04 and a pace between 100 and 106 possessions per game, Chicago 11-19 ATS (-8.79 units).
I can only look to fade the dog in this spot, and I would lean to the under with the current total at 227.
The Pick: Mavericks -7
Lean: Under 227
