December 22 NBA Player Props, Odds and Analysis
Today marks the start of the 2020-21 NBA season. With only a two-game slate, there is sure to be plenty of action with some of the NBA’s top talent taking the floor tonight.
Here are a few player props to consider for both games. Odds are courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.
Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry
The Bet: Over 4.5 3-point Field Goals Made 4.5 O (+118)
Known for his 3-point accuracy, Curry should return to form after playing only five games last season after suffering a hand injury, requiring surgery.
Starting with the 2014-15 season through 2018-19, Curry has averaged 4.6 3-points field goals made, attempting 10.7 3-pointers per game. In his last full season played, Curry ranked second, only behind James Harden in 3-point field goal attempts with a .437 3-point field goal percentage.
Curry will face a Brooklyn Nets team that allowed an average of 34.8 3-point attempts from opponents last season, good for a .350 3-point field goal percentage.
With Draymond Green out with a foot injury, Curry should also see more usage, especially against a Nets team that was ninth in pace last season, averaging 101.4 possessions per game. As the primary production player for the Warriors, Curry should easily hit the over (+118).
The Warriors are a 7.5-point underdog on FanDuel Sportsbook in a game with the highest total on the slate at 230.
Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant
The Bet: Over Assists 4.5 O (-120)
Kevin Durant makes his Brooklyn Nets debut Tuesday, after missing the 2019-20 season with an Achilles injury.
Since the 2015-16 season, Durant has averaged 5.3 assists per game and joins a Brooklyn Nets squad that averaged 24.5 assists per game last season. The team was also seventh in assist differential 1.82 per game.
Paired with Kyrie Irving, Durant looks to be a primary distributor and have a high-production role in the Nets offense.
Los Angeles Lakers, Anthony Davis
The Bet: Under Points 26.5 U (-122)
Last season, Davis reached the 27-point threshold 29 times in 62 games played. In his four matchups with the Clippers, he scored 27 or more points twice.
The Clippers allowed on average 109.9 points to opposing teams last season. They also ranked eighth in pace with 101.5 possessions per game on average. The Lakers, however, have relied on Davis and LeBron James as the primary source of production for the offense, averaging 113.4 points per game, good for 11th in the league last season.
Davis is currently projected for 22.6 points. In a close matchup and in a game with the lowest total on the night, Davis may be trending toward the under (-122).
The Lakers are a 3.5-point home favorite against the Clippers on FanDuel Sportsbook, in a matchup with a 219.5 total.
Golden State Warriors, Kelly Oubre Jr.
The Bet: Under Points 17.5 U (-110)
Kelly Oubre Jr. joins the Warriors after spending last season with the Phoenix Suns. Last season with the Suns, Oubre averaged 24 minutes, 18.7 points per game and was third on the team in usage at 22.4%. He scored 18 points or more in 30 games last season in 56 games played.
Expect Oubre’s usage to decrease, competing with Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins for production. Oubre is currently projected for 15 points in tonight’s game.
The Nets allowed 112.3 points on average to opponents last season. Even in a matchup with the highest total of the night, expect most of the Warriors’ production to come from Curry and Wiggins, trending Oubre toward the under (-110).
The Warriors are a 7.5-point road underdog on FanDuel Sportsbook in a game with a 230.5 total.
