Detroit Pistons vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Predictions and Picks
The Cleveland Cavaliers have a 10-7 record to the under this season, but you could hardly tell from their recent run with the last five games going over the total. So what’s changed? Well, I think we’re starting to see head coach J. B. Bickerstaff show a bit more trust in his young team along with some maturity by some of those young players like backup point guard Darius Garland.
Cleveland is starting to run their offense faster as they’re now averaging 102.7 possessions per game, whereas earlier in the season, they were struggling even to have 100 possessions in a game. Garland has done a good job in a reserve role as he’s averaging 5.7 assists per game, which is an increase from last season when he averaged 3.9 assists per game with roughly the same amount of minutes. In fact, Garland averages more assists than starting point guard Collin Sexton (4.2 assists per game). Tonight, they’ll face a Pistons team ranked in the top-10 in possessions per game (104.3).
The last eight matchups between both teams have gone over the total, and Detroit’s games have gone over the total in their last six road games. The Pistons have struggled on defense this season as they’re ranked 20th in defensive efficiency (1.083). My model has a strong lean to the over, and that’s exactly how I’d look to play this matchup.
The Pick: Over 214
