New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics Predictions and Picks
I love the idea of backing the Celtics in this spot.
Boston is off a 10-point loss to the 76ers on Tuesday, and now they have a 24-hour turnaround to take on the Knicks. Sometimes the best way to put a loss behind you is to play another game. The Celtics will have that opportunity when they take on a Knicks team that walloped them by 30 points in their last meeting.
This is a big game for both teams as they’re actually tied for the same record in the Atlantic Division. New York currently has the head-to-head tiebreaker after winning the first and only meeting thus far in January. Both teams are seeded seventh and eighth in the conference, and it would behoove them to try to finish at least higher than seventh to avoid the playoff play-in tournament.
Even with Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier ruled out, I still like Boston’s chances in the game so long as Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are on the court. Not only is this a classic revenge spot, but when you factor how the Celtics were embarrassed in their last meeting, I expect we’ll get a good response out of them.
When I look at the total, there’s enough respected money on the under that the number has fallen from 212 to 209.5. Both teams do come into the game with some strong under trends that no one should ignore.
As a result, I’ll look to play a two-team 4.5 point teaser by bringing the Celtics line down from -3.5 to +1 while teasing the total up from 209.5 to 214.
The Pick: Two Team 4.5 Point Teaser: Boston +1 / Under 214
