Orlando Magic vs. Toronto Raptors Predictions and Picks
I’m surprised to see the Raptors as a 4.5-point favorite against the Magic. This line actually opened with Toronto as a 5.5-point favorite, and they were immediately bet down. It’s been a rough start to the season for a Toronto team that has taken up temporary residence in Tampa Bay due to travel restrictions between the United States and Canada. Toronto is just 7-12 on the season, and this team looks miles away from the team that won 74% of their games last season. Against the spread, Toronto is 6-13 overall and 3-7 at home.
Orlando hasn’t been much better as their record is 8-12 on the season. The data shows Orlando has struggled to score points as they’re 28th in offensive efficiency (1.023 points per possession). When you combine that with Orlando’s poor head-to-head run against Toronto, and it’s the home team that looks like the right side in this spot.
My initial lean was to play this game under the total given the form of both teams coming into this matchup, in addition to the fact their head-to-head games have gone under seven of the last nine times they’ve faced one another.
Unfortunately, this game opened as high as 219, so some value has been lost with the current number at 215.
Instead, this sets up as a good spot to tease the total up and play the under while teasing the point spread down and playing the Raptors. Since there’s not a lot that interests me on the NBA card, I’ll look to only risk a half-unit on this play.
The Pick: Two-team four-point teaser (+107): Under 219 / Raptors -.5
