Brewers Trade Former Top Prospect Orlando Arcia to Braves

The Milwaukee Brewers have decided to move on from Orlando Arcia at shortstop. With Luis Urías set to replace him, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Arcia was traded to Atlanta in exchange for right-handed pitchers Patrick Weigel and Chad Sobotka.
According to the Brewers president of operation David Stearns, the club had been exploring trade options for Arcia for a few months. And with a surplus of infielders already in their organization, Milwaukee saw it prudent to acquire some pitching arms in return.
Last year, Arcia’s .260 average was the highest on the Brewers team, but he could never replicate his 2017 season when he hit .277 with 15 home runs and 53 RBIs.
As for the pitchers Milwaukee received in the deal, Weigel made his big league debut for the Braves last season, pitching 2/3 of an inning. In comparison, Sobotka has appeared as a relief pitcher in 50 major-league games. He’s 1-0 with a 5.36 ERA and 61 strikeouts in 47 innings.
Both players will report to the Brewers’ alternate training site following the trade.
