In what has been the worst kept secret in the NFL, Adam Schefter reports that the Philadelphia Eagles have completed a deal with the Indianapolis Colts to trade quarterback Carson Wentz for a 2021 third-round pick and a conditional 2020 second-round pick that could evolve into a first-round pick.
Dan Graziano also contributes to the reporting and states that the trade will saddle the Eagles with $33.82 million of dead money on their salary cap for the upcoming season.
Wentz will join up with head coach Frank Reich, his offensive coordinator in 2017, which was also his most successful season. He threw for 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions and was in the MVP discussion until his season was cut short due to a torn ACL.
