The Falcons find themselves in a fascinating spot. They own the No. 4 pick in the upcoming draft, and the first three picks are widely expected to be quarterbacks. That said, two other quarterbacks could potentially come off the board in the top 10 picks, so teams who need a quarterback could be looking to trade up to the Falcons’ pick. Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reports that the Falcons have had “exploratory talks” with teams looking to trade up to No. 4, and the Panthers, Broncos, and Patriots are all teams that could be interested.
That said, Breer added that he expects the Falcons to stay put and ultimately select a quarterback themselves. Matt Ryan will turn 36 years old in May, and he has not been able to replicate the success from his MVP season in 2016, so the Falcons could be looking for a new option at the position. There’s no guarantee they’ll find themselves in the position to secure a replacement in the future, so passing on a signal-caller in a talented rookie class is risky.
The Falcons are currently listed at +6000 to win Super Bowl LVI on FanDuel Sportsbook.
