Fernando Tatis Jr. has signed a 14-year deal worth $340 million with the San Diego Padres. The deal is the longest in MLB history and would be the third-richest contract, behind Mookie Betts’ 12-year $365 million and Mike Trout’s 10-year $360 million deals.
Entering his third year with the Padres, Tatis has been an electric player for the team, batting .301 for his major-league career with 168 hits and 39 home runs. His .366 OBP was second on the team, only behind Manny Machado last season.
