The Chicago Blackhawks tweeted that captain Jonathan Toews and Kirby Dach have been moved to the long-term injured reserve. According to the NHL’s CBA, that means that they must miss at least 10 games and 24 days.
Toews ending up on the LTIR shouldn’t come as a surprise. He released a statement before the start of training camp, noting that he wouldn’t participate due to health concerns. Dach’s injury relates to a wrist injury he suffered in an exhibition game before the World Junior tournament. Their absences could make what was already expected to be a long season for the Blackhawks even longer.
The Hawks currently have 13 forwards on their roster who have combined 2263 career points. If we remove Patrick Kane’s 1022, that leaves the remaining 12 forwards have a cumulative 1241 points over the course of their careers. Don’t be surprised if there are some long, goalless nights for Chicago this season.
At last check, the Blackhawks had a season point total of 48.5. however, that wager is not currently available at FanDuel Sportsbook. If you believe in miracles, you can get the Hawks at +6000 on the Stanley Cup futures board. Here’s hoping Toews can get healthy and back on the ice this season.
