After determining Kyrie Irving violated the league’s COVID-19 guidelines, the NBA fined Irving $50,000. Earlier this week, a video surfaced Irving not wearing a mask at a private party held over the weekend.
Irving’s bank account will actually be even lighter as he’ll also forfeit some of his salary for the games he missed. In total, he could lose almost $870,000, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Irving has been away from the Nets due to an undisclosed matter. Still, he could return to the team on Saturday after completing the NBA’s mandatory five-day quarantine period while continuing to test negative for the virus. Saturday could be the first time Irving teams up with the newly created Big Three after the Brooklyn Nets acquired James Harden in a trade with the Houston Rockets.
Brooklyn will host the Orlando Magic, and early signs suggest they will be at least a double-digit favorite. Be sure to check out FanDuel for all your NBA action.
