ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that it’s unlikely that the Niners will trade their quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, at this time.
Multiple teams are expected to contact the 49ers today to inquire about the availability of QB Jimmy Garoppolo, per sources. But as of early this morning, the chances of him being traded are, in the words of one source, “remote.” Let’s see if anything changes in next 72 hours.
One source labeled those chances as “remote” at best. However, Shanahan didn’t exactly give Garoppolo a ringing endorsement when he met the media on Monday.
Here's the clip of Kyle Shanahan answering if Jimmy G will be on the roster on Sunday: "I can't guarantee that anybody in the world will be alive Sunday so I can't guarantee who will be on our roster on Sunday."pic.twitter.com/KwI1KUmQMI
It’s widely thought that the Niners traded up in the draft to select a quarterback with the third overall pick. San Francisco could choose between Mac Jones, Justin Fields, and Trey Lance once Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are presumably off the board with the first two picks.
Jones is currently the odds-on favorite at -140 to be selected with the third pick. Trey Lance is second at +105, followed by Justin Fields at +900.
