Detroit Lions Shut Down Facility Due to Positive COVID-19 Result

NFL.com reports that the Detroit Lions have shut down their facility in an abundance of caution to contain a possible outbreak after two positive COVID-19 test results. All players’ and coaches’ meetings will be held remotely as the team adheres to the NFL’s protocols and contact tracing efforts. Tom Pelissero further reports that the positive test result involves a player and a non-player on the team.
This is far from an optimal scenario for the Lions as they already have a short week to prepare for the visiting Buccaneers with a 1 p.m. ET Saturday kickoff. Tampa Bay is as high as 10-point favorites after bettors pounded the opening line at 7.5. Detroit could be counting down to the end of the season after being almost doubled up last week in a 46-25 loss to the Titans.
As for the total, it opened at 54, but early bettors seem to favor the under as it’s been bet down to 53. That’s a bit surprising considering that both teams are a combined 17-11 to the over this season.
