Eagles Could Be Without Multiple Players in Week 17
The Washington Football Team could face a depleted Eagles team on Sunday. Philadelphia had some key players miss out on Wednesday’s practice, including Fletcher Cox (neck), Jordan Mailata (concussion), DeSean Jackson (hamstring), and Derek Barnett (calf). Philadelphia has already been eliminated from postseason contention, and a loss would actually improve their draft position.
There are some whispers that the Eagles are already looking towards next season as there really isn’t much incentive to risk the health of their players who aren’t close to 100% for a meaningless game.
Perhaps the biggest loss for Philadelphia would be their left tackle Jordan Mailata who has played well since being inserted in the starting lineup. If Mailata is unable to play, the Eagles would have to shuffle their offensive line and bring in a lineman off their practice squad.
That could be problematic against a Washington defense that’s ranked sixth in sacks for the season. Keeping their quarterback upright has been an issue for the Eagles have allowed almost one more sack per game than any other team in the league.
