FanDuel Super Bowl MVP Market
If you’re already looking to find an edge for the big game, you might want to consider the Super Bowl MVP market. Patrick Mahomes is -105 to win the Super Bowl MVP, while the Chiefs are -166 to win the game on the moneyline. Casual bettors are likely to load up with Mahomes’ tickets as essentially a cheaper option to playing the Chiefs on the moneyline. After all, if Kansas City wins, Mahomes would likely be the de facto MVP.
Last season some thought the game’s MVP should have gone to running back Damien Williams, who had a receiving touchdown to put the Chiefs ahead 24-20, followed by a 38-yard touchdown to put the game away. In addition to his two touchdowns, Williams also rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries and caught four passes for 29 yards.
While Mahomes certainly played a key role himself, one could argue that his two interceptions were enough to keep him out of contention.
There could be buyer’s remorse on giving Mahomes the MVP for a second straight year should the Chiefs win the game. Kansas City traveled to Tampa Bay earlier this season, and wide receiver Tyreke Hill scorched the Buccaneers secondary for 13 catches, 269 yards, and three touchdowns. Let’s also not forget Travis Kelce and the record-breaking season he’s had thus far.
Kelce had another massive performance in the AFC Championship game with 13 catches, 118 yards, and two touchdowns while playing as a tight end.
While Mahomes looks to be the logical favorite at -105, Hill at +1700, and Kelce at +1500 have plenty of value at those prices.
