Kyler Murray’s Return To Practice Seen as Positive for Cardinals
December 30Michael ArinzeSportsGrid
The Arizona Cardinals’ playoff chances got a big boost today with Kyler Murray back at practice. Murray took a shot to his lower leg in the final play of Arizona’s loss to San Francisco last week. The former Heisman winner lay on the ground motionless after the hit but looks to be doing much better as he gets set for Sunday’s matchup. The Cardinals will travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams, and the winner of the game will secure a playoff spot.
As for the Rams, they’ll have to face the Cardinals without Jared Goff as their starting quarterback. Goff suffered a broken right thumb last week against the Seahawks and has already had surgery to repair the injury. He could return for the Rams in the postseason if they’re able to qualify for the playoffs.
Los Angeles expects to start backup quarterback John Wolford in Goff’s absence. Wolford was an undrafted free agent in 2018 who has yet to play a snap in a regular-season NFL game.
News of Murray back at practice has shifted the odds with Arizona now as high as a three-point favorite since opening as a one-point underdog.
