One positive note for the Giants was that Sterling Shepard had a strong finish to the season. The fifth-year veteran managed to put together back-to-back games of at least 77 yards and one touchdown. His only other touchdown was in Week 7 against the Eagles, and now he’s had two in consecutive weeks. The only question is if he had any injury issues during the season that perhaps the public wasn’t aware of.
There are definitely some building blocks on this Giants team as we’ve already seen the offensive line get better over the last few years. If they can continue to fortify that line through the draft and get Saquon Barkley healthy, they could be ready to take the next step under head coach Joe Judge. Judge was able to extract maximum effort from the team to win six games despite losing their running back for the season and their quarterback for a few games. The Giants look like a team that could win around nine games next season if things fall right for them. The Washington Football Team won the NFC East this season with just seven wins, and the Giants could put up enough wins to contend again next year.
As a Giants fan, you would have to be thrilled that you found your head coach for the future. Judge has been able to bring discipline and accountability to the team. The only way to approach next season is to be full of optimism and glee.
