Reports are starting to surface that Deshaun Watson would welcome a trade to play for the Miami Dolphins. The Houston Texans could get Tua Tagovailoa, and a combination of draft picks in return for the trade. Watson has been unhappy, particularly when the Texans traded away All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. But trading away your franchise quarterback who is just four years into his professional career and under contract for three more years would be quite a statement for the Texans organization.
Unfortunately, the relationship may be untenable after Watson was kept out of Houston’s head coaching search after suggesting that Eric Bieniemy should be a candidate worth considering. The Texans’ response was not to grant him an interview. Of all teams searching for a head coach, the Texans were the only team not to interview Bieniemy.
This was a slap in the face to Watson, and at this point, there’s no reason for him to remain loyal to the Texans.
