Fantasy Football Strategy: RotoExperts “Carlos Hyde Never Looked Better”
The preseason is essentially finished for Fantasy Football purposes, and now we have a better handle on some player values and situations. The preseason is a time for Fantasy players to work hard in preparing for their drafts and upcoming seasons. While our editorial staff has been hard at work on getting you ready for your drafts in the Xclusive Edge package, our tech team has delivered a preseason more impressive than Dak Prescott in 2016. This year's preseason sensation? Mitch Trubisky comes in second behind our guys when you see our brand new RotoExperts player pages.
Carlos Hyde caught three passes for 45 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' third preseason game. The San Francisco offense looked very good against a usually formidable Minnesota defense. Hyde is looking like a more appealing RB2 than in the past in what could be the most respectable offense he has played in yet as a regular starter.
If you are scouting Hyde for your draft, there is a plethora of information on his newly designed RotoExperts player page. All player pages are accessed simply by typing in the full name in the search box on the top right of any RotoExperts site page. The pages are also linked in every player mention in all of our NFL articles. Xclusive Edge subscribers can easily access all players, while free readers can access the top players at all positions.
Viewing the page, you can see where all of our top experts have Hyde ranked in any format by clicking on the standard, PPR or half PPR bars. He is ranked lowest by Jake Ciely while all others have him very close to or within the Top 20 of PPR formats. To the right of that box you will see Hyde's 2017 projections. On the left side of the page you will see also the latest columns referencing Hyde, including Brandon Murchison's ADP Duel comparing Hyde to Isaiah Crowell. Not only do you see the info to scout him, you also get content to help with the tough decisions.
In the center of the page, you will see graphs detailing Hyde's performances by week in several key categories. This includes snap counts, touches and even the amount of plays the 49ers ran on offense in any given week. At the bottom of every page, you will see highly detailed charts that feature weekly breakdowns with even more statistical categories, sortable by both seasonal and DFS site scoring.
You can learn a lot from the bottom of the page charts by viewing the snap percentages. Take a good look at Devonta Freeman's player page and you will sometimes see snap percentages under 60 percent, yet he still consistently produced high Fantasy totals. Freeman is clearly a RB who makes the most of every touch. He does not need to dominate the snap percentages like Melvin Gordon, who hoards most of San Diego's snap counts. Freeman clearly produces more overall yardage in less touches, and that may be a factor when you are deciding on a close first round call between the two players. Gordon produced less with more last season.
On the subject of Hyde again, knowing his injury history, the area at the top right of the player card will be essential for him. Supplied by our friends at insideinjuries.com, the injury box details every player's current Injury Risk level and his Performance Factor related to his current health status. Click on the “See Details” link for a complete report on Hyde including the latest analysis and more related categories and his complete injury history, as well as further explanations of the categories.
The news is all good for Hyde right now, but for DeMarco Murray, the outlook is currently not so good. He has been slowed by a preseason hamstring injury and Inside Injuries has him as a Elevated Injury Risk with a Below Average Health Performance Factor. I have also dropped Murray in my recent rankings on the site.
So make sure you enjoy all of our new player pages and what they have to offer. They are a new singular central location for everything you need on key Fantasy players you intend to draft.
