Tampa Bay Lightning are the Class of a Weak NHL Central Division
The weakest division in the NHL this season is the Central. Even though they have the defending Stanley Cup champion, Tampa Bay Lightning, the Central is still the league’s bottom division. Tampa is not the team they once were, even with a softer schedule. It’s tough losing Nikita Kucherov as he is a top-five player in the NHL. The Lightning will have to go the entire regular season without him, and maybe he’s back for round two of the playoffs. That’s a big-time maybe. So that hurts the team.
The rest of the division teams, Columbus, nobody special, Carolina, a good workmanlike squad, but still not there. Dallas has so many injuries, so who knows what’s going to happen with them. Funny enough, they were in the Cup Final against the Lightning last year. That’s a first, obviously, a team that won the Cup is now in the same division as the team they lost it too. Detroit’s one of the worst teams in the NHL, and Florida’s a mess. Nashville is a reliable team, but nothing outstanding here, and Chicago is another team wrought with injuries. The Lightning is going to walk through this division easily here. So they’re poised for a points title even without Kucherov is undoubtedly in play here for Tampa.
