Brendon de Jonge is a nice sleeper for The Open Championship
It's time for the third major of the season, The Open Championship (a.k.a. the British Open) at Royal Liverpool GC at Hoylake.
Phil Mickelson is back to defend his title, and Tiger Woods will compete in his first major of the season after missing The Masters and U.S. Open due to injury. But it is obviously WAY more than Lefty and Tiger. There is a great international field, and plenty of European Tour stars dot the field and will be worthy Fantasy selections.

SO YOU WANT A BIG TICKET ITEM? ($9,000 and above)
Justin Rose ($10600): Rose will be playing in his homeland, and that's always attractive for top British players in The Open Championship. Plus, he has been hot lately, placing 14th or higher in six of his past seven PGA Tour events. You won't be disappointed in Rose, so spend the big salary.
MID-LEVEL VALUES ($8,000-$8,999)
If you spend big up top, you're going to need some fillers to bring down your average per player salary. Check out these steals from the mid-levels and bargain bin:
Thomas Bjorn ($8200): Bjorn might not be the most popular name on the board, and many Fantasy fans might not be familiar with his work since he plies his trade mostly in the European Tour. However, he is good. In fact, he ranks No. 1 in the Race to Dubai on the Euro Tour. Over his past five PGA Tour events he is 46th or better, and that includes a Top 10 showing at The Masters. Consider him not only as a sleeper for a Top 20 finish, but a legitimate threat to win this weekend.
Jamie Donaldson ($8100): Donaldson hails from Wales, and he is another player who mostly makes a living on the European circuit. Don't let that dissuade you from selecting him. In fact, that's more the reason to take him. He ranks third in the Race to Dubai on the European Tour, and before last weekend's disaster at the Scottish Open, he had back-to-back Top 5 showings at the Alstom Open de France and BMW International Open.
BARGAIN BASEMENT ($7,999 and below)
Thongchai Jaidee ($6900): Many casual fans in the United States might not be familiar with Jaidee, but he has been solid on the European Tour this season. He has posted Top 5 finishes in three of his past five events across the pond, including a victory at the Nordea Masters in early June. He stumbled badly at the Scottish Open, and that's actually a good thing. Rarely, if ever, does he string together two poor performances in a row. Expect at least a Top 20 showing, which is great return on a low Daily Fantasy salary.
Brendon de Jonge ($5800): De Jonge has not been a consistent finisher in the Top 10, and that's probably why his salary is so cheap. However, you won't find many Fantasy options at this price level which have made 10 consecutive cuts. Sure, he has only two Top 10s during the stretch, but he also has been worse than 45th just once during the span. It's all about consistency.
Victor Dubuisson ($7400): Dubuisson is a little on the pricy side, but that's likely due to his runner-up finish at the Accenture Match Play Championship which nearly netted him a million-dollar payday. While he missed the cut at The Masters, he has made the cut in his other five PGA Tour events this season. And, sticking with the European Tour theme, he ranks eighth in the Race to Dubai.
NOT QUITE READY FOR PRIME TIME
Ian Poulter ($8900): Poulter (wrist) heads into The Open Championship with soreness in his right wrist, and that could hinder him, especially over the weekend when the weather turns a bit more foul. Plus, he missed the cut last time at Royal Liverpool in 2006. While that's a long time ago, and he says he is a different golfer, there are just other much less risky options on the board.
