Tiger Woods Can’t Seem To Find Anything But The Water
Tiger Woods isn't healthy. Since late 2009 when his world came crashing down, Woods hasn't been completely healthy either mentally or physically. Sure he has played in plenty of tournaments in the last seven years, but he has undoubtedly never been the same. Whether it's his shoulders, his knees, or most recently his back, the ailments have added up for Tiger. So the questions about coming back healthy and eventually breaking Jack Nicklaus' record come in, over and over. In fact every time that Woods makes a public appearance, he needs to answer the same questions. This comes with the job of being Tiger Woods, no doubt, but it's clear that the Tiger Woods before us isn't the same man. In fact, we are sure he will never be.
Yesterday, Woods was at Congressional Country Club, promoting this week's Quickens Loans National event. The event benefits Woods' charity and military veterans. Woods was standing on the tenth tee and was going to just flick a shot over the water. He's done it a million times. To this day, we still expect every shot Woods takes to be perfect. So on this day, with zero pressure, we expected Woods to hit the shot inches from the cup.
Unfortunately, it landed in the water. As did the next shot. As did the third.
The video is awkward. Seeing the anger from Tiger, followed by the determination, finished off by angst is uncomfortable. The greatest golfer of our generation couldn't hit the ball over 100 yards anymore. We don't expect Tiger Woods to compete with Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Rory McIlroy. But we sure would love one last battle with Phil Mickelson. Even if it were to just make the cut.
Over the last seven years Tiger Woods has proven he isn't immortal. Now, we just hope this isn't what's left of him.
