Where to Live Stream 2016 World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational
There are actually a couple golf tournaments going on this weekend. You’re likely looking to live stream the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational.
Of course, as mentioned, the WGC at Bridgestone is an invitational, which means it’s not a full field like at other tournaments. For instance, the only players invited are playing members of the last Presidents Cup or Ryder Cup teams, players ranked among the top 50 in the world, tournament winners of worldwide events and the winners from selected tournaments in the Australasian Sunshine Tour, Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour.
Shane Lowry won this tournament last season, so we’ll see if he can shake off a bad finish at the U.S. Open to duplicate that effort.
The purse is $9.5 million, and the winner will be taking home a check for $1,620,000.

The tour also travels to Reno, Nevada, the “Biggest Little City in the World,” for the “Biggest Little Tournament on the PGA Tour.” OK, so maybe I made that nickname up, but still, it’s an “Alternate Event” on the PGA Tour, which means the winner does not get an automatic invitation to the Masters Tournament next year, and the winner gets just 300 FedEx Cup points, as opposed to 500.
What makes this tournament more interesting than some of the other PGA tournaments, aside from the fact it’s named after an awesomely mean fish, the Tour uses the Modified Stableford scoring system.
That scoring system, which has been used at this tournament since 2012, is one of the more interesting ones on the Tour. This is a scoring format that rewards aggressive play, which really makes for a great tournament to watch!
Basically, golfer’s scores on each hole are given point values in relation to par. For instance, a birdie gets plus-2 points, a bogey gets minus-1 point and a par is equal to zero. Here’s the whole scoring setup:
- Albatross (3 strokes under par) = Plus-8 points
- Eagle (2 strokes under par) = Plus-5 points
- Birdie (1 stroke under par) = Plus-2 points
- Par = 0 points
- Bogey (1 stroke over par) = Minus-1 point
- Double Bogey (2 strokes over par) = Minus-2 points
Something else interesting about this tournament is that since 2011, the leader after 54 holes (three rounds) has gone on to win the tournament every year.
The purse is $3.2 million, and the winner will be taking home a check for $576,000.
