America’s Birthday Present: Derek Jeter Never Wearing This Uniform Again
Derek Jeter's on his way back to the Yankees. He finished his minor league rehab with two hits, including a single on a bunt ordered by Yankees GM Brian Cashman, and sold a bunch of tickets while he was at it. Oh, and he also wore a uniform so hideous that no one even tried to pretend it was anything but horrific.
Jeter's rehab came with the Trenton Thunder, the Yankees' Double-A affiliate. Normally, the Thunder might look something like this. But yesterday, to "honor" America, they looked like this:
America, you are owed an apology...as is everyone who's looked at (to say nothing of worn) this thing. We got flashbacks to the U.S. at the 1994 World Cup...only the Thunder's outfit may well be worse. Yes, we know minor league teams will do crazy things to get attention, but seriously, Thunder: you already had Derek Jeter. Publicity: not an issue. But now, thanks to you, there's something we all don't have: the ability to un-see this uniform.
