Good Night, Sweet Plate: Tigers’ Brad Ausmus Freaks Out Arguing Balls And Strikes
So home plate is all tucked in and Tigers manager Brad Ausmus was ready to call it a night. Unfortunately his team was still playing.
Ausmus was ejected from Monday's game with the Twins for arguing balls and strikes with plate umpire Doug Eddings, but many believe is histrionics were to light a fire under his moribund team. Detroit had lost 11 of 12 games fore Sunday's 6-5 victory over the Orioles, and the Tigers scored eight in the first on Monday vs. the Twins, hoping to claims their first back-to-back wins since April.
But Detroit blew its eight-run lead and needed single runs in the seventh and eigth -- after Ausmus was gone -- to win it, 10-8.

Ausmus, via AP:
"When you get seven, eight guys coming back from home plate complaining about the strike zone, they can't all be wrong," he said.
Fun fact: When Ausmus takes off his sweatshirt, we see that he isn't wearing a uniform top. Someone's gonna get fined, I think.
