Office Of Gov. Of Texas Totally Hoses Astros With Premature Congratulations Tweet
You can stop wondering who or what doomed the Astros today -- as Houston utterly collapsed in Game 4 of their ADS with Kansas City. The Royals, down 6-2, scored five in the top of the eighth to take a 7-6 lead, then eventually won 9-6.
That forces a decisive Game 5 on Wednesday (8 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1).
So who is the most to blame? Houston's bullpen, who thought they were pitching in the cavernous Astrodome? George H.W. Bush, who threw out the first pitch from a ludicrous 2 feet from home plate? The lady spotted snorting (allegedly) cocaine up in the Minute Maid reserved seats? Nope, it was this:
Oops...The office of Texas Governor Greg Abbott tweeted a congratulatory message to Astros when they were up, 6-2. pic.twitter.com/iwCDk5IhKu

What the hell?
Here's what happened in the eighth following that tweet:
-- The Astros used five pitchers: Lance McCullers, Will Harris, Tony Sipp, Luke Gregerson, and Josh Fields.
-- The Royals had five singles, two walks and two run-scoring groundouts. The Astros had a two-run error by shortstop Carlos Correa.
-- And for good measure, Eric Hosmer's two-run homer for the Royals in the ninth.
-- Meteor hits team bus in parking lot.
Abbott's defense? It was his office that sent the tweet, not him. He has two Twitter accounts. But his picture is on both and they're both official. So, put your house in order, Governor Soon-To-Be-Impeached.
