Travis Shaw, 3B MIL -- Start
Travis Shaw is listed as day-to-day with a back injury, but it seems that he is most likely getting a day off for rest. Don't expect any days missed after Sunday or any sort of decrease in performance unless more information is released that indicates it is something more serious.
Avisail Garcia, OF CWS --Start
Avisail Garcia has been out for a couple of games with a knee injury after hurting himself sliding into first base on Thursday. The White Sox have said that they don't want to rush him back, but all the evidence points to this being a pretty superficial injury and there won't be any long-term effects. He should be back any day now and performing at peak levels.
Curtis Granderson, OF NYM -- Cautious Start
Curtis Granderson missed the Mets' game on Sunday with what is being termed as a tight right hip. We have labeled the injury as a Grade 1 hip flexor strain. This, luckily for the injury-riddled Mets, is not a major injury, and he should be back sooner than later. There is a slight risk for re-injury (17.5% ), and a slight decrease in overall performance (69.5% Health Performance Factor- Above Average), but at the end of the day, he will still play and he will still be decent. He's considered a Cautious Fantasy Start but could approach Low Risk by the end of the All Star break.
Justin Upton, OF DET -- Risky Start
Upton has been out for three straight games with right side soreness. We have listed the injury as a Grade 1 oblique strain, and if that is the case, he may be out for more than a couple more games. Not only is this muscle group integral to hitting, it is also one that tends to have a long recovery time .The Optimal Recovery Time is three weeks according to our algorithm. Upton will have a day off on Monday as the team will not have a game, and the Tigers are hopeful he will be able to play on Tuesday, but don't count on it.
Nelson Cruz, DH SEA -- Risky Start
Nelson Cruz is out of the lineup with a Grade 1 strain in one of his knee tendons. He hurt the leg after jamming his foot into second base attempting to beat out a throw. No tests have been performed yet (or rather none have been announced), but it isn't looking great as of now. He will more than likely miss at least a couple days, and a trip to the disabled list is not off the table. Fantasy Baseball owners should look for a backup plan.
