Ken Griffey Gives His Hall Of Fame Speech The Only Way He Can
In the last 20 years or so, a huge dark cloud has hung over Major League Baseball. That dark cloud is better know as the steroid era, and continues to rain cheaters down on baseball. We have witnessed broken records get tainted. Is Barry Bonds really the home run king? Or does that really still belong to Hank Aaron? Does anyone care how many home runs A-Rod will have before he retires?
However, there were a few players who were sunshine amidst the clouds. And the sun that shone the brightest was without a doubt Ken Griffey Jr. When you think of Griffey, you think of his smooth swing, elite defense and the kid that wore his cap backwards and made baseball cool again. Well during his Hall Of Fame speech he reminded everyone that he is still that kid at heart.

We forget that Ken Griffey Jr. was often injured during his tenure with the Cincinnati Reds. If he was healthy in that stage of his career we might be talking about a different home run king. Take into account that he is sixth all time in career home runs and the injuries surely had an effect on his body. A healthy Ken Griffey Jr. might have given us a steroid-free home run king.
Griffey, thank you for reminding all the fans how awesome you were. And more importantly, congratulations on your induction into the Hall of Fame.
