A-LISTING: Check Out Josh Hamilton’s $3.4 Million Texas Castle
Josh Hamilton, the five-time MLB All-Star and former AL MVP for the Texas Rangers, has listed his 5 bedroom, 9 bathroom "house" in Westlake, Texas for $3.4 million. And since Spotrac lists Hamilton's 2016 base salary as $28,410,000, I'd say it's safe to say that he is looking to upgrade.
It's hard to believe, and it makes me a little sick to my stomach to say it, but $3.4 million is a pretty modestly priced home for a superstar athlete like Hamilton. And with all of those turrets and towers and such, it looks more like one of those castles you'd see at a second-rate theme park, so he might be ready to be done with that.
Now because I'm no celebrity, I don't know what the upgrade from a 10,000 square foot mansion would look like, but...oh wait a second, I just remembered that I do. Plus since Hamilton has that inexplicable, guaranteed MLB contract money, he might be one of the few athletes in the country that could afford it.
Let's circle back to his former home and take a deeper dive inside to see what the next lucky castle-dweller will be working with. Here is the overview of the property as it is listed on realtor.com:
"Stunning estate on wooded one acre cul-de-sac lot reflects great curb appeal. Private landscaped backyard oasis offers stone waterfalls and sparkling pool surrounded by numerous trees. Spacious outdoor living area includes kitchen and bar for entertaining. Unique design and quality reflects throughout this beautiful home, from the expansive gourmet kitchen, to the cozy family room. There was not a detail missed. This home is ready for you!"
Well it is hard to argue with the home's...curb appeal? I'm sorry, what? I'm sure that somewhere there is a very well-established real estate agent who makes a lot of money off of hocking curb appeal to pretentious home buyers, but I just don't buy it. As far as I'm concerned, the term curb appeal is really only appropriate if you're looking to name a Kings of Leon/Little Big Town supergroup.
"And now, your headliners for the last day of the second weekend of Coachella...Curb Appeal!"
Tell me I'm wrong...
Of course if you can somehow manage your way past that incredibly enticing curb, then you'd likely enjoy some of those other features mentioned in the overview. Check it out:
Spacious Outdoor Living Area
And just FYI, the other side of that island has TWO stainless steel dishwashers. I can't imagine. I'd feel like the Queen of England if I had two dishwashers.
All of this is really just skimming the surface of the home, too. Despite the fact that it could be considered modest in the world of celebrity real estate, it sports some pretty stunning features to the rest of us who live in non-oasis-having homes.
Here are a few more highlights of the former Hamilton property:
Master Walk-In Closet
Sunny Tea Room
Wrap-Around Balcony with Pool View
Kitchen Dining Room
Main Dining Room
Grand Living Room
Cozy Living Room
