Meet The Dad Who Saved His Kid From A Bat To The Face At Pirates Game
Remember this pretty amazing photo that we showed you on Monday. More details emerged this morning as we discover the identities of the people involved. The kid who almost got a faceful of bat at the Braves-Pirates game in Orlando is Landon Cunningham, and the guy who saved is his father, Shaun Cunningham, a firefighter from Sarasota.

The bat slipped from the hands of Danny Ortiz during an at-bat and almost clobbered Landon, 9, who was taking pictures to send to his mom and was checking on one of them when the incident happened. His dad stuck out his arm to deflect the bat.
"My dad's a hero, I have a great dad," Landon said to the Today Show's Matt Lauer, who interviewed the two on Facetime this morning.
When asked what his wife thought of the photo, Shaun Cunningham said, "Well, she had a hard time with it. She got a little nauseous." Cunningham: "I guess I was just in dad mode. My job is to protect my son."
