Memorabilia Company Finds Way To Ruin That Heartfelt Wilmer Flores Moment
It was a moment that should have been set to a Randy Newman soundtrack, representing all that is still good in professional sports. When Wilmer Flores learned during a game on July 29 that he had been traded by the New York Mets, he let his emotions get the best of him and actually cried on the field. It was a rare, heartfelt snapshot in a cruel and cynical world.
The trade was called off, as you know -- and two days later Flores hit a two-run, walkoff homer for the Mets to beat the Nationals. You can't make that up.
But you can profit from it, apparently. Steiner Sports has ruined everything by offering this for sale on its website -- yep, an autographed photo of a crying Flores in the Mets' dugout.
With a script that could not be duplicated in Hollywood, New York Mets shortstop Wilmer Flores turned an emotional moment in the field into an unforgettable one in the batter's box with a walk-off home run in the summer on July 31, 2015.
As you can see above, the photo goes for $169 framed -- $69.99 unframed. What, no authentic vial of tears?
Soon to come from Steiner: Little League World Series trading cards consisting of players crying after making an error.
