Michael Bourn’s Headed To Atlanta And Other Deals From Today’s MLB Trade Deadline
Yesterday we left you with the news that the Cleveland Indians had completed a trade for 2010 NL Cy Young winner Ubaldo Jimenez, and with the MLB trade deadline just hours away, a few more trades have gone down, with many more likely to come. Here's a look at the wheeling and dealing done in the past half-day.
The Indians weren't done dealing after acquiring Jimenez, as soon after, they sent infielder Orlando Cabrera to the San Francisco Giants for minor league outfielder Thomas Neal.
Another surprise team, the Pittsburgh Pirates, also acquired a big name, as they traded Aaron Baker to the Baltimore Orioles for Derrek Lee, thus making it the first summer in almost 20 years that the Pirates are buyers and not sellers at the trade deadline.
Speaking of sellers, a day after trading Hunter Pence to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Houston Astros traded one of their few other players worth acquiring, as they sent outfielder Michael Bourn to the Atlanta Braves for Jordan Schafer and three minor league prospects.
The trade deadline is now less than an hour away, we'll keep you posted with any more significant trades that come our way.
