One Mets Fan Wasn’t Exactly Thrilled With Bartolo Colon’s Home Run
When Bartolo Colon hit one out of Petco Park over the weekend, Mets announcer Gary Cohen called it one of the greatest moments in baseball history. For most of us, the moon shot was awesome. For Matt Sassi, it was an utter disaster.
Much like the Rangers fan who made a statement on Twitter that he would get a tattoo of Gary Bettman's face on his ass if the Kings and Blackhawks both lost in the first round of the playoffs, Sassi is a man of his word. He made a bet with friend Anthony Triola before the season that if Colon hit a home run this year, he would commemorate it with a tattoo. Well Colon did the unthinkable and then Sassi followed through.
There are few things in the world less important than a mans word. In this case, a statement was made at the beginning of the season, and it came true. Matt Sassi said to his buddy, Anthony Triola: "If Bartolo Colon hits a home run this year, I'll get a commemorative tattoo". Before the game on Saturday I met them in McFadden's and they told me about this bet. You'd think, ok... that's not happening. Right? WRONG! Coolest part of the bet was that they were both there to witness the feat in person. Matt is a Middletown, NY native that moved to San Diego. What were the odds that Bart would be on the hill the day of our invasion? What are the odds he'd go yard? Slim to damn near impossible. Matt could have chickened out and not gotten it at all, or gotten something small that could easily have been hidden. Instead he went balls to the freakin' wall with pretty much a half sleeve. Tossed THE 7 LINE ARMY on there for good measure and added the date of Bart's now famous swing. You manned up, Matt. Bravo.

The 7 Line captured the moment on Instagram for the rest of us all to see. With both Sassi and Triola in attendance in San Diego, you have to wonder what Sassi's reaction was. The fat pitcher on his favorite team just went yard for the first time in his career, but now he needed to follow through on his bet. And Sassi didn't just follow through. He took it to the extreme.
We respect it and hope that a fan somewhere out there made a bet that Donald Trump would never be president.
