In one of the more interesting magic tricks performed this week, MASN has made Rob Dibble disappear...for two games at least. Dibble will take a two game absence from his post as Nationals’ color commentator, although nobody is sure why.
In case you are unaware, a few days ago on his radio show for Siruis XM, Dibble made some rather emasculating comments regarding young Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg.
Todd Webster, a spokesman for MASN (the network that airs the Nationals) would only comment that Dibble is “taking a few days off.” Perhaps the most telling comments came from Nationals President Stan Kasten:
"Rob asked for some time off...Perhaps he's not feeling well. But I'm not a doctor, nor have I seen his records. So I shouldn't say anything more about it."
We’ll see if this two-game break turns into something more permanent. I can’t help but wonder if the Nationals are tired of having their broadcaster in the news more than their players.
In his absence, Dibble will be replaced by another former player, Ray Knight. Enjoy Nationals fans, maybe you’ll gain back some of that female viewership that Dibble doesn’t believe in.
