Stage 5 Clingers: Blue Jays Fans Really, Really Want David Price To Stay
The Toronto Blue Jays came oh so close becoming the American League Champions and making it to the 2015 World Series before losing in six games to the Kansas City Royals in the ALCS. Of course the Royals went on to win the World Series, sealing their place in the annals of baseball history, while the most talented Blue Jays team in years will most likely scatter before the 2016 season begins.
Naturally the fans, knowing just how close they got, don't want to see the team crumble after so little time in the spotlight. But rather than take a more conventional approach to convince ace pitcher David Price to stay, they created a website that allows fans to write themselves into his contract; so to speak.
At anypricefordavid.com, a fan can state what they agree to do if Price decides to stay in Toronto. As of late Tuesday night there are almost 5,000 "clauses" from Blue Jays fans; or just general fans of the cause.
And to be honest, they are kind of entertaining; even if the site does read as gimmicky and a little desperate. I mean that's kind of the essence of being a sports fan after all, isn't it?
Here are some of our personal favorites so far:
Solid plug on a platform that a lot of people will read through. I especially like his aggressive promotion of 14-year-old material.
There is literally no reason ever, at any time, to turn down kick-ass pho.
Can't go wrong with the charity approach. You go, Pawan.
A karaoke duet and he gets to pick the song?! "AND I NEEEED YOU NOW, TONIIIGHT"
Nothing like baseball to inspire you to quite tobacco products...
Lame clause, fan-fucking-tastic name.
I like this potential stalker's work ethic. He's really willing to put in the time.
Good. Everyone knows Phil's a dick.
Just call your agent and make the deal now, David.
DAMN IT. Rick rolled again. This is never going away.
