The Philly Phanatic Arrests Jose Fernandez
The Philadelphia Phillies are tied for the second most wins in baseball. The Cubs have 27 and the Phillies are tied with the Red Sox and White Sox at 24. It's a remarkable total for a team that many projected to finish with the worst record in baseball this year. My girlfriend's father told me he didn't think they would have 30 wins all year. With the Phillies playing over their heads, the Philly Phanatic has been able to ride his ATV into the sunset day after day. But before today's game (which the Phillies would go on to win), Jose Fernandez tried stopping the Phanatic in his tracks.
As the Phanatic was getting ready to go for a ride on his ATV, Jose Fernandez tried to steal the keys. The Phanatic did everything he could to stop Fernandez (including tickling him), but Fernandez still came away with the keys and the Phanatic took a tumble. But with the way the Phillies season is going, there was no way that the Phanatic was going to come away a loser in this situation.
So as any innocent mascot would do, the Phanatic contacted the local authorities. After careful consideration, the cops allowed the Phanatic to make a citizens arrest and gave the mascot his handcuffs.
Knowing that he was caught red handed, Fernandez put his hands behind his back and surrendered without a fight. Unfortunately for Nationals fans, it seems as if Fernandez has quickly made bail and will be starting this weekend.
