‘There’s A Naked Man On The Mound At Wrigley Field’, And Other Chicago Celebration Notes
Needless to say they're still going wild on the streets of Chicago right now, and below please find my two favorite celebrations. First, this delirious, chilly Cubs fan:

Also, this festive description from Chicagoland Scanner:
CPD - Clark & Addison - Multiple subjects just took a electric pole down and are carrying it down the street with live wires #ChicagoScanner

Look, this party has been 108 years in the making, so it would be a bit of a disappointment if a naked man wasn't running down Waveland Ave., heading directly toward live electric wires.
So we're not sure if this guy is the same naked man from the video above. Although we'd be surprised if there were only one:

On this date in 1908, the same year the Cubs last won the World Series, construction had just started in Dublin on the HMS Titanic. Of course both projects were doomed -- there just weren't enough lifeboats for either. If we ever developed the technology to raise one of them, my money would have been on the Titanic ... but lo and behold, it turned out to be the Cubs. The curse, or whatever you call it, ended with an 8-7 win over Cleveland in Game 7, and all of Illinois is headed toward one big hangover.
Sorry, but Chicago is calling in sick this morning. It apologizes for the inconvenience.
