Thor Crushing Life In The Mets Version Of Between Two Ferns
After a game ends players are bombarded with millions of questions from reporters. Most of the questions are basically the same every single day, with a little variance based on if the team won or lost or the player being interviewed played well or poorly. In baseball, when there are 162 games, this means a ton of monotony and a ton of canned answers. Derek Jeter perfected the art of saying absolutely nothing when giving a reporter a response. Sure, here and there you'll find a player with a good quote, but for the most part the sound byte is nothing more than a trained, pre planned response.
The Mets and Noah Syndergaard decided to turn the tables on the reporter in the latest edition of "The Amazin' Life" the team's web series. This episode, fashioned like Zach Galifianakis' popular web series "Between Two Ferns" has Syndergaard asking Mets field reporter Steve Gelbs inane baseball questions, that Thor has no doubt heard a billion times before.
The interview is awkward and cringe worthy, especially when Syndergaard intentionally gets Gelbs' name wrong, instead calling him Kevin Burkhardt. The segment is sponsored by Coca-Cola and we hope that the shows changes its concept and is turned into a regular talk show for Syndergaard. The Mets ace is hilarious in every way and he deserves more opportunities to show off his personality. We would love to see him interview Bartolo Colon about his home run, Yoenis Cespedes about his rides into spring training, and of course, Matt Harvey about his model girlfriends.
