WATCH: Prince Fielder’s Celebration Goes Awry
Let's just say it's a good thing Prince Fielder is sticking to baseball, representing the Texas Rangers in the MLB playoffs and not trying to represent the United States in the upcoming Olympic Games in the track and field competitions.
Fielder, who has been a key component behind the Rangers' playoff run, went 1-for-4 in yesterday's 6-4 extra innings win over the Toronto Blue Jays, but his biggest highlight came after the game's final out, where in an attempt to hurdle the dugout fence and join in the celebration, fell flat on his belly, where he had to helped up by two teammates before entering the field with his festive Rangers.
Not sure what the key takeaway is from this...that it takes two teammates to help Fielder up or Bob Costas, calling the game for MLB Network with Jim Katt, has been saving an Edwin Moses reference for the longest time that finally saved the light of day. Either way, it's a pretty awesome postseason video that'll probably find its way on one of those "This" commercials for MLB.
This isn't the first time Fielder has had trouble keeping his feet on the field this season. In a June game against Texas, he face-planted while rounding third, much to the humor of his teammates. To his credit, Fielder laughed along with them, and ended up scoring that run in Texas's 3-2 win over the Dodgers.
Fielder will have a chance to work on his hurdling, as the Rangers have an off day in their ALDS series with Toronto. Owning a 2-0 lead in the series, the Rangers will have a chance to wrap things up on Sunday in Arlington.
