We’ve Fixed The Big Hat Blooper In Straight Outta Compton
If you know your NWA, then you know the famous quote "Speak a little truth and the people lose they minds." So, in the spirit of truth, here's calling out the film Straight Outta Compton, whose opening scene portrays a big lie.
Gaze upon Eazy-E here (portrayed by Jason Mitchell) in the opening scene, above left. The problem? That black White Sox hat he's wearing hadn't been invented yet. The scene was set in 1986, and Chicago didn't roll out that model until five years later, in 1991.
The one worn by the team in '86 is seen above, right.
So we fixed the scene. No, it doesn't have the same edge, but I'm a stickler for MLB hat accuracy, and that scene ruined the movie for me.
Now here's Ice Cube, as played by O'Shea Jackson Jr., wearing a Dodgers hat that I know wasn't in existence in 1986.
That's what happens when you put Oliver Stone in charge of wardrobe.
Of course the real Eazy-E rolled much harder than that in the hat dept.
