What’s On Tap: All Aboard The U.S. Open … Trains Will Pass Through The Course 45 Times Today
Today's sports highlights ...
Golf: U.S. Open, gets underway today at Chambers Bay GC, University Place, WA -- first round noon to 8 p.m. (ET) FS1, 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. (ET) Fox. Of course if you cough at the wrong time you could distract the golfers and get yourself thrown out. But trains? Yeah, they'll be passing right next to the course throughout the day.
This will be a unique championship for many reasons. Among them: the greens are brown, the sand traps are gray – and the trains are running, whizzing north-south on tracks wedged between Puget Sound and the course.
The schedule is not expected to be altered for the Open.
"Forty-five trains a day," the marshal said, ranging from Amtrak transportation to freight. "I love seeing the Amtrak trains with the passengers all staring at the course."
