What’s On Tap: Tour de France, Canadian Open Get Their Champions
What's happening today in the world of sports, and beyond ...
Paris police opened fire on a car that broke through a barrier at the Tour de France today, which is the traditional beginning of Stage 21, the final stage of the race. OK, it's not traditional at all, but here's a good quote:
The bullet-pocked car was found abandoned nearby, a source close to the investigation said.
"This is a minor incident. It wasn't aimed at the Tour de France, it's not terrorism, it's just a simple refusal to comply as there are many every day," a police official said.
Hmm. Anyway, Britain's Chris Froome is expected to win. More on this later.
