Young Pirates Fan Sits Through 18-Inning Game, Has All The Emotions
This kid was one out from going home with a Pirates' win on Sunday, but the Nationals' Daniel Murphy ruined that with a solo homer in the ninth to tie it 1-1, and the marathon was. The game went 18 innings -- the longest in Nationals' history, until Starling Marte’s 429-foot homer in the top of the 18th gave Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead. And the Bucs held on for the win.
This kid hung in for every pitch, experiencing a lifetime of emotions -- at one point even sinking down below his seat to sit on the floor for about half an inning. Patience wasn't exactly his byword -- as it was for his parents and older sister, who had to sit beside him.
At the end it was all too much, and he collapsed in mom's arms. He won't need to see another baseball game until he's 20.
