76ers Become Latest Team To Get Bodyslammed By ‘The Simpsons’

It's a longshot at this point, but the current Philadelphia 76ers still have a mathematical chance at being the worst team in NBA history -- at 5-38 they're pretty much as bad as the Warriors are good. If the Sixers can refrain from winning four more games, they'll break the 1973 76ers' record of 9-73 and claim the worst NBA record of all time. New 76ers motto: Keeping Records in the Family.
This fact isn't lost on the writers of The Simpsons, who always have their TVs tuned to SportsCenter, it seems.
The greatness here is that we've got Superintendent Chalmers shouldering the load of this bit, and he's such minor character in the show that he hardly ever appears. Yet everyone knows who he is, and that makes The Simpsons' bench the deepest on television. If only the 76ers could claim that.
And this is a quality line, by the way:
APU: "One tube of sunblock, thirty dollars."
CHALMERS: "Once again, keeping the bald man down."
All well and good, but this is still the best Simpsons sports putdown ever:
