Anderson Varejao Will Not Be The Lord Of The Ring
Since the NBA Finals began, seemingly everyone assumed that Anderson Varejao was going to get a ring no matter who won. Sure, Dan Gilbert and the Cavs didn't have to give Varejao a championship ring, but the thought was that thanks to his years of service and loyalty, they would throw him a bone. Or in this case a ring worth thousands of dollars. Gilbert traded away Varejao midway through the season, to free up some space for Channing Frye, but we never believed there was any bad blood. Yeah, we were wrong.
According to The Big Lead, the Cavs had zero plans to give Varejao a championship ring. Now if Varejao wanted to swallow his pride and ask for one, they would have considered it, but they were absolutely not going out of their way to get him some extra jewelry. Knowing Anderson Varejao like we do (full disclosure: we don't know him at all), that wasn't going to happen.

There was no way that Varejao was going to take a championship ring for playing for the losing team in the NBA Finals. Varejao is in a good position to pick up plenty more championships by playing for the Warriors, so hopefully he'll wind up with some bling in his future. It just won't be paid for by Dan Gilbert.
