Andrew Wiggins Looked Fantastic In His NBA Preseason Debut
Remember Andrew Wiggins? He's the guy the Cavaliers gave up on before his career even began to get Kevin Love, because the prospect of some winning now is better than the prospect of more winning later. Our first look at Maple Jordan in an NBA game has us excited for the Timberwolves' future.
Wiggins led the team with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and three blocks. Even in exhibition games, he's showing he can score and defend at a high level -- his ownership of Solomon Hill was particularly fun to watch. Here are his full highlights (notice -- no dunks included):
Again, this is a fake game in a no-stakes situation, but a good start is a good start.
For better or for worse, Wiggins' career will always be measured against the shadow career he might have had playing alongside LeBron in Cleveland. We'll never know whether trading Wiggins was the right decision for Cleveland (even if they win a title with Love this year, who's to say they wouldn't have won with Wiggins this year either -- or in 10 years with him, for that matter?), but at least we'll get to watch him turn into a superstar on his own terms.
Then he'll probably end up leaving Minnesota for L.A. or Miami.
