Phil Jackson Isn’t Quite Stepping Down (Yet) As President Of The Knicks [UPDATED]
Reports surfaced late Wednesday night that Jeff Hornacek was going to be hired as the next Knicks head coach. It was going to be the end of a strange search that we were certain would end in the inevitable hire of Kurt Rambis as the head coach. Instead, after interviewing Frank Vogel and David Blatt, the Knicks turned to Hornacek.
What makes the hiring seemingly out of nowhere is the lack of connection between Hornacek and Phil Jackson. Hornacek doesn't run the triangle offense, he never played for Phil Jackson and what Hornacek favors is everything that Jackson hates. The run and gun offense, the three pointers rather than the long twos. Hornacek's impending hiring made Knicks fan feel good about Phil Jackson's direction. He was thinking outside the box and trying to do what's best for the team and not necessarily sticking to his one vision.
Well, it makes a whole lot more sense now.
Breaking News: Sources @latimes are reporting that NY Knicks President Phil Jackson will step down later this week.

If the report is true, we would like to say it ends one of the more bizarre tenures in Knicks history. Unfortunately, Knicks fans had to deal with the Isaiah Thomas era, so this seems tame compared to that.
Jackson's obvious next step could be a return to the Lakers. We wonder how Knicks fans would feel about that. The coach he wanted, Luke Walton, is now the head man there. The Lakers are in a much better position for the future than the Knicks, especially with the number two pick in the draft and loads of cap space. Not to mention, Jackson's fiance' Jeanie Buss owns the team.
With Jackson potentially gone, it's clear that Carmelo Anthony has won another power struggle. It's rare in sports that the executive will ever win a war against the player. Even with ten rings, Jackson couldn't win this battle.
Oh Jennifer Carr you spam artist you. It seems as if the tweet above was tweeted from an account that just isn't real. The same person tweeted about an alleged affair with Ted Cruz two months ago. As we continued to scroll through her Twitter account, we mainly saw retweets from Incarcerated Bob. We got got.
This one is on us.
