Celtics Go With “Sleep Walking” Theme For New Road Unis
November 7 / David Young / SportsGrid
Some uniforms are so iconic that to mess with them is tantamount to treason, heresy, and telemarketing (okay, look, I know you need the money, but please throw my number away). The Yankees' pinstripes. The Canadiens' big "C" with a little "H." The Celtics not wearing Underoos on the road. Well, that last one is no longer true.
The Celtics trotted out their alternate road unis, and they're grey with sleeves. Yes, sleeves. Right now Larry Bird is turning in his grave. Wait, what? Okay, well turning on a spinning seat in a Dunkin Donuts. The style - called Parquet Pride - looks more like what you would wear while watching a game in your living room, not playing one in front of other people.
I love the Boston @Celtics! But the #ParquetPride uniforms are horrible! The Celtics colors are GREEN and WHITE. Why mess with perfection?
And wait, if they're road uniforms, they won't actually be worn while playing on their home parquet floor. But that's trivial compared to the hideous nature of the uniforms. Maybe they will make the team so mad that they'll break out of their early season funk. Then again, maybe not.
