Well it appears Milwaukee Bucks rookie Thon Maker and standout Jabari Parker had a little fun the other night at a Travis Scott concert. But it appears as if it were just Parker throwing away his cash. And I don't blame Maker, not throwing away his money, and giving a modest 'salute' to the crowd as he videotapes his teammates actions.
Now, Parker, a 2014 draftee, went down with a torn ACL this year which forced him to sit out about half the season. Maker was his replacement and really made a name for himself during the playoffs this year where a young Bucks team gave a moderately tough Raptors team a run for their money.
I don't know what was going through Parker's mind at the time (he could have been drunk for all I know), because he isn't necessarily at the point in his career where he can be throwing away money like that. And I don't think anyone for that matter should be throwing away their money like that, especially to a whole bunch of kids at a concert.
Parker has a contract for 3 years while making a little over 22 million. This year he ended up making a little over 5 million this season (due to injury), which isn't bad for a 3rd year player who played half a season. But to throw away your money like that, isn't the smartest thing to do. Just ask players like Eddy Curry and Latrell Sprewell who quickly learned what spending too much money looks like.
But hey, being that I have $8 in my wallet right now, and if it was me at that concert, I would have been the first one jumping like Jordan reaching for some bills. I just hope Parker smartens up a little, so he doesn't end up like me. Maker and the rest of the Bucks organization should be reaching out to Parker right about now giving him some helpful advice. But he is a young 21 year old just having fun so more power to him.
