The legend of Dirk continues. Last night against the Los Angeles Lakers, Nowitzki became the sixth player in NBA history to reach 30,000 career points. Dirk joins the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain as the only other players to have hit this milestone. Joining a list of names such as these, adds credence to the exceptional legacy that Dirk is creating.

It was only fitting that Dirk’s trademark fade-away jumper was the shot that secured it. The NBA world went crazy, as Dirk received congratulations from legends, current players, fans and analysts, all showing great appreciation for the legendary career of the 38 year-old veteran.

On another positive note for Dirk and the Mavericks, Dallas is now just two games out of the 8th spot in the Western Conference. After struggling greatly in the early part of the season, Dallas seems to finally be figuring things out. As the season comes to a close, it will be interesting to see how the race for that final spot plays out, as there are a number of teams in striking distance.
In the meantime, let’s celebrate another great moment in the career of Dirk Nowitzki. Congratulations Dirk.
